State Debate Wins Trophies @ State

Mead Debaters showed their chops at WIAA State Debate Events held at the University of Puget Sound and Gonzaga University. Next up - Debate Nationals! Over Memorial Day weekend, the following students will travel to Washington DC to compete at Nationals:
Courtney Iseman & Jericho Simone -- Public Forum;
Kellie Tran & Cynthia Fetcho -- Dual Interpretation; and

Our MHS Orchestra Students Keep On Winning Gold!

At the State Orchestra Festival @ Western WA University Mead High School won:
Mead HS String Quartet - 1st Place winner Washington State Chamber Music, Chamber Music Division;
Mead HS Chamber Orchestra - Gold Medal Winner, Chamber Orchestra Division;
Mead HS String Orchestra - Gold Medal Winner, String Orchestra Division.

Lauren Tucker - The Very Definition of Selfless

Lauren is a Junior at Mead, living with Type 1 Diabetes. She spent her 16th birthday, this month, serving others for over 12 hours at the Camp STIX dinner auction, which raised $190,000. Camp STIX is a week long camp for children living with Type 1 diabetes. Lauren is passionate about helping others living with this disease. This is her 5th year of working at this auction. She works tirelessly to help put on this great event that raises funds so Type 1 kids can have a week of "normal". Lauren, YOU are our hero!

Lauren Champlin earned the Congressional Award Gold Medal

To earn the Gold Medal she completed 400 hours of voluntary public service through her service at the Northwood MS computer science classes, summer STEM camps, Whitworth daycare and the Hub sports center, 200 hours of personal development, working on the zero engine, and 200 hours of physical activity rock climbing and hiking. Pantherette Sign Ups!

Pantherettes spring classes start Tuesday, March 20! Classes are taught by Mead HS dance team, supervised by Carolyn Saccomanno. The dance girls go through training prior to teaching these classes, and do a fantastic job. We offer three grade levels, and dancers will learn dance technique, drill down, and a fun routine to perform at the Mead Dance Team Spring Show on Friday, May 4.
