It’s official. Mead High School is the 4A Scholastic Cup Champion for 2017! The Panther Sports Teams, Cheer, Dance, Debate and Music, Band & Drama Departments combined to earn 1355 points, outpacing 2nd place Camas by 175 points.
Mead student-athletes have now finished in the top 5 of the WIAA's Scholastic Cup standings 13 times and this is our 6th time winning the Cup! This prestigious state award recognizes state placings as well as academic excellence. The Panthers won the cup for five consecutive years between 2007 and 2012.
Since 2005 Mead has captured 22 State Academic Championships including this year's Orchestra group and our Panther Debate and Dance Teams!
Since the formation of the Greater Spokane League in 1977 Panther teams have won 47 State Championships. The Mead Boys Track Team won the 4A State Track Title this spring. Along with the Boys Track Team’s State Title, we had Volleyball finish 2nd at State, Wrestling took 3rd and Boys Tennis place 4th.
Besides the 3 Academic State Champions we had three Panther Sports Teams finish 2nd academically – Boys & Girls Track and Wrestling. Mead’s Band program was also 2nd in the state academically.
