A week ago, the Mead Panthers ended the regular season with a third straight loss and were the #5 seed heading into the District 8 4A playoffs. Saturday, they woke up as the GSL 4A District Champions after winning three games in four nights against top teams to claim the Greater Spokane League’s #1 seed in the 4A regional playoffs. Tuesday Mead's hot start was too much for the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups and they won going away at Prep 60-42. Thursday they were at League Champion Lewis & Clark and in one of the best high school basketball games of the season they knocked off the Tigers 61-53. Friday the Panthers defeated the host University Titans 56-47 to take the championship. Mead now travels to take on the Mid-Columbia Conference top seeded Richland Bombers Friday night at 7:00 pm.
