Friday, December 19th was a big win for Mead High School! The Panther girls and guys both won on the court against Mt. Spokane. Our STUDENT turnout was great and our BAND sounded the best! Tonya Axworthy's DANCE TEAM performed to rave reviews . . . AND our Booster Club in partnership with Allstate Insurance conducted the First Annual X-the-TXT event - bringing awareness to the dangers associated with texting and driving. During the night, over 100 students took the pledge to not text and drive! Planes were sold all week at lunches and at the game for the halftime "fly-off," and Mead's Payton Douglass won the $200 Visa gift card - flying her plane into the center court garbage can! And Mead Panther Parker McGinn took home a $100 gift card for landing his plane closest to the free throw line target. Finally, the Booster Club raised $6350 on the night with contributions from local businesses supporting the event, local Allstate agencies and money from the planes that were sold. Most of the money raised will be donated to Mead's ASB to help with the purchase of the new Electronic Reader Board to be installed in front of Mead High School.
Special Thanks to the Mead Booster Club - Renee Fine, Lisa Douglass, Paula Mahaffey, Kim Simmons, Shawna Williams, Michelle Hammon, Michelle Britz, Patty Ellingsen, Tonya Carty and Carla Percival - The Panther Dance Team and Tonya Axworthy - Jarrett Polivema and Ben Castro for your work in preparing for the event and helping Friday night.
