Katherine McEuen and Jonathan Baird - Mead's 2019 GSL Scholar Athletes!

Katherine earned 4 varsity letters; all in volleyball.  She was named 1st-Team all GSL her junior year.  As a senior, she was the Greater Spokane League MVP and was named to the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association All-State 1st-Team.  Panther volleyball won two GSL Titles, three District/Regional Championships and placed 5th, 2nd and 2nd at the 4A-State Volleyball Championships during her career at Mead. 
Katherine will be playing volleyball at Carroll College, on a volleyball scholarship and she has also been awarded the Presidential Scholarship for academics.  She is pursuing a biochemistry degree and hopes to attend medical school after graduation from Carroll.
Jonathan earned 8 varsity letters; 3 in football, 2 in basketball and 3 in track. In football he was named GSL all-league defensive back as a senior and he led the GSL in interceptions. He was recognized as a NECA/IBEW Fall Scholar Athlete and, was both a football and basketball team captain as a senior.  In track, as a junior, he was a District/Regional qualifier in the open 400 and triple jump.  As a sophomore he placed 5th in the at the Regional Championships in the 4x400, and was a qualifier for the open 400 at districts.
Jonathan will attend Brigham Young University where he will play football. Jonathan will be studying pre-medicine.
