MEAD PANTHERS TAKE 5TH AT STATE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

Mead's return to the State Tournament was a good one!  The girls defeated Tahoma Friday afternoon to advance to the quarterfinals against the 2nd ranked Curtis Vikings.  They lost in 3 sets, but nearly forced a 4th by rallying from 24-18 down, only to lose 25-23.   Curtis went on to win the championship.  Saturday they faced Monroe and won(23-25, 28-26, 25-16, 25-15) to set up a 5th/6th place trophy match against Bellarmine Prep.  Bellarmine had won the previous three 4A State Championships.  The Lions won the first set 25-22 but Mead won the marathon 2nd set 33-31.  They used that momentum to win the 3rd (25-17), but Bellarmine fought back to win easily in the 4th(25-13).  The girls regrouped and won the 5th set 15-11 and earned the 5th place trophy!  Congratulations to the 2015 Panther Volleyball Team and Coaches Shawn Wilson and Kayla Mainer.
Senior Libero Payton Douglass was named to the 4A State Volleyball All-Tournament Team after this weekend's Tournament!
