Katie Kukua Qualified for State!

Katie Kuka went into Regionals as the GSL #3 Seed. In order to make it through the day, she

potentially had to play 3 matches, each match being a loser out. In her first match against MCC

#2, Pasco, she did well, winning 6-0, 6-1 in an hour. She got a thirty minute break, then played

GSL#2, from G-Prep. She lost to her in league, and lost a very close match last week in Districts.

Katie battled hard and won in 3 sets, playing that match for two and a half hours. At this point she

got a forty-five minute break before she played her final match. She was extremely tired at this

point, but she went on to play MCC#1, also from Pasco. She dug deep and pulled it out winning

the second seed to State. This is not only remarkable in it of itself, but she played 5 1/2 hours of

tennis in 90 degree weather, with court temperatures averaging 15 to 20 degrees hotter. Well done,

Katie!
